Unambiguously describe in everyday language the business needs, predicated on how the business operates or wishes to operate (rather than force business people to use engineering methods and languages to define business needs).

Solution Management
Unambiguously describe solutions (designs) predicated on:
-       the business requirements - including operations and assets (e.g. extant elements)
-       technologies and best practice - principles, policies, patterns, decisions, reference architectures.


Best Practice and Quality Management
Keep coherent and usable sets of principles, policies, patterns and reference models. Relate information about the business to external reference models (technical and business) and allow inferences to be drawn via the reference models.
Record decisions about proposed implementations so that alignment can be planned, misalignment understood and the rationale for decisions recorded (so changes in circumstances can be understood).
